The Modern’s Ron Mueck Exhibit

My aunt came to visit a few weeks ago and, knowing there is absolutely nothing to do here, we drove up to Fort Worth to visit the Kimbell’s “Portraiture in the Age of Picasso” exhibit. While we were parking I noticed a sign for the exhibit currently at the Modern, a collection of a little more than a dozen of Ron Mueck’s life-like sculptures. Immediately I began persuading her to go to that one instead, then recanted and decided on the Kimbell, then waffled back and forth, then sighed and smoked a cigarette over having such an unfamiliar, pleasant conundrum. But, being as wise and wonderful as she is, my aunt decided we should do the Kimbell that afternoon and the Modern the next morning. Needless to say, I was pleased. Read the rest of this entry »
